Allison van Diepen has created such a fabulous cast of characters in the ORACLE series. For five bucks, the Oracle of Dating will tell you:* How to flirt* If that cute guy you're crushing on likes you, too* Whether your new romance will last through lunch period* And much more What she won't tell you? Two relationship disasters were enough to make her focus on everyone else’s love life. It is a simple storyline, but it is engaging and funny. But then her advice backfires on her own best friend. It is a light, pleasant read that adults as well as teenagers will enjoy.

Suddenly, the teen queen of advice needs her own oracle of dating - and she knows just where to find one... But one slip - or one serious competitor - and life turns ugly fast. And for the #1 dealer on the streets, strategy is not just about staying ahead.

She was a believable character – a girl who loves her friends and family, has an ordinary reaction to school, has a part time job and does have to contend with hormones! van Diepen deals with relationships and leaps of faith well.

I liked how van Diepen was happy to have Kayla getting advice and learning from relationship books – it made her site more believable. Kayla has a great group of friends – my favourite being Ryan and Jared was a nice guy – easy to see why Kayla fell for him. It isn’t the most original idea but it was great reading.

Canada Allison van Diepen is the author of seven teen novels: Takedown, Street Pharm, Snitch, Raven, The Oracle of Dating, The Oracle Rebounds, and The Vampire Stalker.

Her novels have been named ALA Quick Picks for Reluctant Readers and New York City Public Library Books for the Teen Age.
