Offline address book in exchange 2016 not updating

It appears that a mailbox exists that can be logged into via Outlook Web Access, but no email address is defined.I can manually add the email address, but it still does not show up when a user is trying to pull up names from the Global Address List (GAL) in Microsoft Outlook. If Outlook is left running constantly in Cached Exchange Mode, it updates the Offline Address Book automatically about once a day, depending on Address Book updates on the server running Exchange. To initiate these updates manually, do the following: So that they can use their updated address book when they are offline. Outlook Connects to the Client Access Server for MAPI Connectivity. In order to reflect any changes or updates made to the Global Address List, you can force Outlook to download a new copy of the GAL.–For Instructions for Outlook 2007 –For Instructions for Outlook 2011 –For Common errors and troubleshooting Step 2: Uncheck the box next to Download changes since last Send/Receive.I've tried adding second and third accounts using random names, and it does the same for those as well.

Note: it takes up to 8 hours for the Offline Address Book to be distributed to Client Access Servers to which Outlook is connecting, so it may take up to 32 hours for the freshly generated Offline Address Book to be updated in Outlook client.

Im concerned that once my old DCs are phased-out that my Outlook users will no longer be able to do GAL lookups from AD because Outlook will be pointing to stale/deprecated servers. Office/Outlook/Outlook 15 Profiles/Main Profile/Caches/1 I tried quitting Outlook, and deleting the OABQuery Info.plist file as advised in that article.

Can anyone confirm what Outlook does when can't find a Directory Server? Can Outlook's Directory Servers be configured via a script or cli command? After reopening Outlook, the GAL was gone from the address book, so I was hopeful.

In the Information to download section, select Full Details and in the Address Book section, choose \Global Address List. **NOTE** Please read this section carefully, or your update will not work!!

Step 3: The new version of the GAL will now be downloaded.

This morning I was asked to update the Global Address List and Offline Address Book in an Exchange environment.
